RAM TUbe rod holder

One rod holder that is starting to be seen alot is the RAM Tube Rod holder by RAM Industries. Here one is shown in conjunction with flush mounted rod holders in back.

I know this is an old post, but I mounted two ram tubes on one of my Tarpon 120's last summer and I thought it was worth mentioning.

I was used to trolling with my rod in a flush mount aft of my seat. The only problem with it is that I have to look back over my shoulder to see my rod tip. I mounted the Ram Tubes on each side of the center console, in front of the foot braces. I have to scoot forward a few inches and stretch to access the poles, but I am still happy with the installation. Although the Ram Tubes aren't mounted in the photo, you can see the ball mount.

Tarpon Guy,
I mounted my Ram tube in the "drink holder" of my Tarpon 140. It works absolutely fine for me and does not in any way, shape, or form get in my way when I'm paddling. I like having my trolling rod in front of me when I'm out on the water.

Robert,

That's a great idea. I only use my "drink holder" to throw the occasional stray lure for a quick change. I seemed to have had symmetry in mind when I mounted two, but I have never used more than one at a time.

Re: RAM TUbe rod holder

thanks for the ideas. I am rearranging my mounts - currently have 6 Scotty mounts of various types - 2 IN the moulded-in Hobie mounts in front.

I like my rods in front of me - what I have been having trouble with is the rods behind me when I have to take a fish line around the back of the kayak. I have trouble taking it around front because of the pedals sticking down. I have already lost a fish going around the pedals.

That would also solve my problem with leashes connecting behind me.
