use flotation bags?

Been looking at flotation bags for my Hobie Adventure, especially the ones with storage space in the middle of the bag and a mouth-tube to inflate the bag. Also think one of the black-on-one-side bags with a camp shower nozzle to create sun-heated water looks pretty good.

The idea of an extra margin of safety for me and my gear - not to mention the 'yak - seems to make sense. Ocean and freshwater fishing, diving, touring, and sailing combo trips are my main goal - with day trips to fine-tune the rig.

Thoughts? Comments? Experience?

Thanks.

Re: use flotation bags?

If you going to use a kayak with sails etc and do some serious offshore running with the wind, flotation bags or similar items may not be a bad idea. However, the best idea I think is to be in something that you can turn right-side up after you flip it, and by all means do it several times before needing to. And I speak from first-hand experience :o Kayak, canoe, recreational kayak, whatever it is. Not only be proficient in piloting it,but self rescues, and any special items you may need for that purpose.

Then ride the wind :thumbup
