Huntington Harbor 8/4/07
Launched late @ 830 and headed straight for the PCH bridge.
Drifted as usual with the incoming tide. Nothing wanted to bite. Had one of those days where nothing went right Birdnests galore Mp3 player battery died Numerous snags on the bottom (ok you get the picture) Finally picked up this 14" Spotty He jumped on my big hammer because OC sheriff Harbor Patrol division decided to blow through under the bridge with a flank bell rung up. Thanks guys for the fish and for the 3-4ft wake They cut the engines for no reason before they got to simple green Yeah I was kinda P'O'd I don't know what was worse almost getting swamped or crashing into shore / rocks Luckily only minor scratches on the hull http://www.allkayakfishing.com/photo...m/IMG_0001.JPG |
Re: Huntington Harbor 8/4/07
Thanks for the report :thumbup I also hate boat wakes, I can feel for 'ya. Last time Robert and myself were in San Diego we were coming in and the bozo's were out in force. The last hour and a half was pulling as hard as I could to maneuver through the boats and avoid being waked half a dozen times and not get run over. It was the worst I ever experienced. I ended up pulling my bicep tenon and that's why I've been in my float tube for the last month and a half. Anymore with the boats and the PWC 's buzzing around, I think you have to treat paddling and kayak fishing like defensive driving, always be on the lookout for the other guy. TC&TL,

Unfortunately
"the bozos" were Orange County Sheriff's department, harbor patrol division. The same guys that get on the bull horn and say "slow down - no wake". Then pull a stunt like that. |
Re: Huntington Harbor 8/4/07
I would report those guys. There is no excuse for that kind of behavior.
