New Rod and Reel

Hey all,

Well in my previous post I mentioned and shot a pic on my original new fishing outfit. Well I've had a change of heart, as nice as the Luna was it just sat too tall on the rod. I took it back and bought a new curado 200DPV as a replacement. The lower profile of the reel is more comfortable and it balances much better. Hopefully I can get out to mission bay this upcoming tuesday and test it out. I have a franko map of misson bay and noted the bass spots according to info here and the other sites. If anyone has any suggestions I look forward to your reply.

Jon,
If you can get a Saturday or a Sunday off I can put you on some fish in San Diego Bay. During the Summer You need to hit Mission Bay very early. It is a total friggin zoo with all the sailboats and jet ski's. I like San Diego Bay more because it is much bigger and it has more places to catch fish.

Robert,

Alright, I'm in for a San Diego Bay fishing trip. I won't be off till next weekend on sunday most likely. If that would be ok pm me and we can set something up. Also if you don't mind maybe some tips as far as types of lures and tackle to take with me.

Re: New Rod and Reel

Jon,
Congrats on the new reel :thumbup I just picked up on of their 300's and I can't wait to break it in. Hopefully, I'll be able to tug on a good sized bass pretty soon. I dunno if it was the right way to rig it but I have 50lb spectra on it with a 20lb topshot, I'll have to see how it works.

For Mission Bay, I used to fish up towards the San Diego Sailing Center complex. The slow zone buoys keep the boats away a bit, plus there is/was a good amount of eel grass there for the bass to hide in. Another place that was producing recently was at the other end in front of Sea World. I like the Franko maps also, in fact I use them quite a bit for scouting different bays and whatnot.

Jon,
Next Sunday is my daughter's birthday, so I won't be able to make that one.
This month is kind of hectic for me. The fishing is a little slow right now
anyway. As the weather and the water warm up the fishing will friggin explode
down here. I'll let you know ahead of time when we are going out next.
