Solana Beach 10/14 surf fishing report

I haven't fished the surf in a while. Headed to Solana Beach. It looked like it could rain anytime. The water was clear with small surf. Not too much salad.
Fishing was slow. Walked down the beach fishing along the way only to catch and release a couple of micro dink bsp.

I found a huge dolphin that had washed up on the beach dead.

The lifeguards brought in a guy with a truck that removes animal carcasses.
He hooked up a cable to the dolphin and started to drag it into the truck.

I noticed that he had a deer in the back of his truck already.

He said that he picked it up that morning in Carlsbad. It had been hit by a car. Kind of unusual for around here. It turned out to be a nice day at the beach weather wise. It was nice and sunny with blue sky all around. Dolphin were surfing in the waves. It was a great day, even if the fishing was slow.

Thanks for the report. We ended up out in the desert so it was no fishing this weekend for me. Big Bear did look pretty inviting though :brews

Kinda crazy seeing a dead dolphin being put on a truck with a dead deer. If this was back east you could take the deer home and eat it.

Take it easy!
