Perry, it was really nice finally meeting you. And seeing Big O again. Also, nice meeting Jclays, GBF, and Jack. We also had the pleasure of speaking to Bernard while rigging up. He was the first to launch.
Unfortunately, no legal halibut for us this day. We did manage a few shorts, and Aaron caught a nice sized sculpin, almost kept. But, the bad news for all of us regarding the halibut happened the night(s) before. We took a mid-morning restroom break at the Doheny launch and discovered why the fish weren't hungry. HUNDREDS of good sized grunion were dead on the beach. It must have been one helluva a run, because even the gulls were too full to eat any more. The fish probably were stuffed too. At least the weather was better than we hoped for
