I met up with Freddie at 5:30 A.M. at Tidelands. I decided to take my Loon 138
out this time. It was overcast and calm.
We launched a little after 6:00 and went straight out to the main channel for some dropshoting. The conditions were great. Unfortunately the bite was slow.
I picked up a couple of spotties and that was about it. This place has been on fire lately. Today was a different story.
We made a move over to the flat out in front of the Amphib base. If anything,
the paddling was awesome. Almost zero boat traffic by 8:30.
It was flat calm and quiet on the water today.
We had a pretty good bite on the spotties at the flat. The first 4 casts I landed 4 fish to 13 inches. I ended up with a dozen spotties to 14 inches.
About 9:30 I was ready to call it a day. I was throwing a spinnerbait and something whacked it! It turned out to be a 21 1/2 inch halibut. He put up a pretty good fight.
We headed back in around 10:00. I picked up the smallest white seabass
that I have ever caught under the bridge. Nice to know the Bay is turning
them out! It was a fun morning on the water, even if the fishing was slow.
The conditions were perfect. Maybe the fish will cooperate next time.
