080808 CDM Kelp
My buddy and I decided to hit up the kelp beds at CDM. Launched late at 8am. Picked up some sardines from the barge and made our way. Got there and my buddy gets a small calico on the dine. An hour passes and he says, "I'm sea sick." I'm thinkin', "oh crap, are you kiddin' me?" Anyway, he said he'll try to tough it out.
Didn't like how the live bait set up kept gettin snagged so I focused on my bass setup. Ten minutes later I catch one of these. Not exactly sure what it is, please let me know. 15 minutes later, I get hit by this. Then, I heard it. My buddy was blowing chunks. I paddle over to him and tell him we should head in. As you can see, I was using a TJW lathered in Unibutter. I'll be out there again on the 15th with my buddy. I'll force him to take motion sickness pills this time. BTW, nice forum... |

Re: 080808 CDM Kelp
In regards to the mystery fish, hard to tell from the picture angle. At first I thought it was a treefish with less than the usual distinction between colors, but looks like it may be a kelp fish.

I'm thinking tree fish. You should have had your buddy smell it, to see if it smells like a tree. Then when he gets close, push it in his face....classic
Nice catch out there |
