Mark out were to drill for wire ties and drill

What a great idea! I've seen all sorts of mesh covers, bungee cords, and this and that, but never just cut the bottom off another like crate and use it as a hinged lid. If I moved my rod holders to the outside of my fishing crate and followed your lead on making a hinged lid, that would be "the kind" of fishing crate. Thank You very much for taking the time to not only make the crate but to take the time to photograph it and share it with us here. I'm sure I'll be seeing some similar crates in the water shortly. Just try this with a radial arm saw. Yet another reason I need a table saw, too.
