Default San Diego Bay - 5/27

Jackie & I fished San Diego Bay this morning. Launched around 6:30, conditions were windy, cold and gloomy. Spring time in southern California can sure blow at times!

Game plan was to skip the main channel and head to the flats and shallows to avoid the holiday weekend mayhem. To our surprise fishing pressure and general boat traffic wasn’t bad. Started off fishing between the moored boats and the bridge. Bam! Jackie has four fish on four casts. Most were about this size.

I finally started hooking up and managed to put a few in the catch column before we moved on to the south side of the bridge. Kind of a slow pick until we made a move and then things started picking up. Jackie was on fire today; she was picking away at the spotties, sandbass and even caught this nice leopard shark.

Meanwhile, I was catching a few here and there and this nice sized YFC.

About 9:30 the bite shut off. Made a couple of moves for one here and one there. We stuck it out until 12:30 by then the wind had picked up and holiday armada was out in force, time to call it a day.

Nice going. Even better missing the weekend crowd.

We were coming back from Clemente on Friday evening and it looked like the D-Day invasion with all the boats heading over to Catalina!

Pretty cool getting the shark, I dig how those sharks look.
