Needlefish will become famous soon enough
Default Could of kayaked but............

Haven't got my fishing license, but my son is young enough not to need one...............fished "proxy" with him today. With a nice incoming tide and great weather thought it would be a super start to the new year. Started at North Star Beach in NPH where he got a 19" 'butt and two 2.5 lb spotted bass. Then tried off BaySide Drive near the Balboa Bridge and things were just short of "epic". Several spotties and one more hailbut to make the morning. Final fish was a toad jacksmelt. Dang !.............fishing was almost as good as in the Spring with zero boat traffic and an abundance of street parking. All fish caught on AA curly tails in ghost shrimp colors. Clarity of the water was excellent. All fish caught were released......... of course, I remember the camera when I got to Newport. Great way to start the New Year!!!

Needlefish,
Thanks for the report and congrats on your trip I bet this time of year would be good to tube the bays, with a good bass bite and alot less boat traffic.

I had an excuse when my fishing license did not arrive until the 3rd then the tides were terrible - need to get out to NPB or Dana Point if anyone is interested this week?

Seaslug,
If I get the rack system for my truck finished up in time for the weekend, yes. We changed cars around and I lost my kayak transport vehicle to the daughter so I have to rig up my truck and use that. I got the rack system for the truck, but I need to get them dialed in as the adaptors didn't fit quite right the first time around. Hopefully, it will take just a little bit of time and measuring to get it fitting right. As soon as I'm good to go, I'll post or shoot you a PM and we'll hit up Newport for some fish TC&TL,
Perry
